Six years ago, naked and on my way to the shower, I passed by a full-length mirror.
Big mistake.
My first thought: Who is that?
My second thought: Crap. That’s me.
I jumped, and my body jiggled. And not in the good places.
The wrong body parts were jiggling–my stomach, my arms, my thighs, my butt.
I knew the cause. My regular midnight refrigerator raids of leftover spaghetti, cookies and bologna sandwiches (with chips!) had packed on the pounds.
So I embarked on a journey. I devoured every shred of information I could find about nutrition, fitness and weight loss. I buried myself in health magazines and exercise websites. I read books, chatted on message forums and watched every weight loss show on television.
And that was just the preparation phase.
It was applying the information that required willpower, focus and determination.
But I made it through to the other side, and now the only body parts that jiggle are the ones that should.
Of course, the journey never really ends. Fat has a way of creeping back when we forget that it’s lurking just around the corner. And I still make my midnight refrigerator raids–I just choose healthier snacks like raw veggies & homemade hummus, or a small bowl of whole grain cereal.
Staying in touch with current health news–coupled with the principles and practical application of weight loss, nutrition and fitness–keeps me motivated and informed.
And now I’m sharing it with you.
